Press Release

Autumn Winter 2021 is first presented as a short story. EDELINE LEE invites her audience to listen to the podcast episode Memory Of A Dress, in collaboration with veteran podcaster PAUL BAE and his anthology series THE BIG LOOP. Edeline comments: “We are all navigating the digital landscape right now, but my brand operates on a human-scale. How to cross the divide? Of all the technology out there, the digitally-native but intimate, connected environment of podcast and storytelling suits the ethos of my brand particularly well. Perhaps it is subversive to produce an audio sound-only fashion show. But we all know that a piece of clothing can hold much more significance than only its appearance. I wanted to contemplate how memory and nostalgia can be held by a piece of clothing...how the soul of a dress can inherently give the wearer a sense of stability, confidence, and power.” Paul states: “I have been thinking a lot this past year about isolation and what that does to our narratives about each other and ourselves and how to capture that in audio. So when Edeline presented me with this opportunity to collaborate on a runway show we only hear--it thrilled me to the bones.”

After listening to the story, the audience is invited to view the moving-image lookbook. “Inspired by this story, my team and I delved into its themes of nostalgia and memory. We explored digital and camera techniques to lend narrative to our fashion photography.

Finally, the entire collection has been dropped as NFTs on the OpenSea platform. Each look has been minted as a limited edition of 7 collectibles. Please click on each look above to view the sale. After carbon offsetting and covering the costs of this project, the remaining profits from the sale of this NFT collection will be shared with the 51 team members that helped to produce these digital files. This concept was inspired by the ethics of the NFT community, and has been developed in symbolic solidarity with their ideals of a better future for creative practitioners. This season, in short, is an experimentation with storytelling in digital mediums,” concludes Edeline.

Autumn Winter 2021 features complex cutting, a chunky bullet-pleat fabric manipulation and confident shapes, expanding on the feminine and spirited vocabulary of EDELINE LEE’S oeuvre. The house’s signature, universally flattering Flou Bubble Jacquard is represented in Malachite and Black this season, and the Georgette Champion appears in shades of Brown, Amber Green, Mustard and Black. Fluid Georgette Crinkle pieces are cut in hues of Mustard and Brown. The house also introduces a brand new capsule of loungewear made of 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton. Edeline states: “I wanted to make some luxurious, sustainable staples that one could wear out, but also sleep in. You can roll out of bed and take a Zoom call in these pieces!” All Edeline Lee pieces are made by hand in England, of fabrics woven in Italy and France.
